Using Pi3 and up to date raspian, with dump1090-mutability, I get the usb_claim_interface error -6 with my flightaware pro stick. I unplug the stick, re-plug, re-run dump1090 and eventually it loads. Sometimes I do this two or three times, sometimes ten or more.

I have compiled dump1090 with the cmake flags -DINSTALL_UDEV_RULES=ON -DDETACH_KERNEL_DRIVER=ON set, and I have the blacklist entries posted in /etc/modprobe.d.

When I run the piaware image on a card in the Pi3, and same stick, I do not have this problem.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

Have you compared all the entries in /etc/modprobe.d/ to see if any are missing on your Raspian card that are on the piaware card?

Thanks for the prompt response. I have a file called rtl-sdr-blacklist.conf, which has the following entries:

blacklist dvb_usb_rtl28xxu
blacklist rtl2832
blacklist rtl2830

Any missing from this List?
