Re: wideband LNA made by RTL-SDR

Thank you moderator .
The problem is not turning on the bias T , it's that it's not turning off . Even without the HDSDR software not being loaded in the computer it's on . I think the logic chip that controls the bias T is fried . Well I guess that it's time to buy a new V3 dongle .

wideband LNA made by RTL-SDR

The LNA that I bought from RTL-SDR , I think isn't working right . I am getting only + 2 DB gain out of it . I am pretty sure that I have it hooked up right . Discone antenna to LNA in , than out +5 to the V3 dongle . Than in the SDR Device software check box bias T . I don't think I missed anything...

Re: Upgrade from an rtl-sdr dongle?

I used 450 ohm latter line to a matching transformer, not a balun , a transformer isolates the antenna from the the receiver .
The transformer is 450 ohms to 75 ohms . I am using the HF+. Now for distance with propagation half way around the big blue ball .

Re: Upgrade from an rtl-sdr dongle?

Hi James ,
for a HF antenna I am using the metal flashing on the eaves of my house and it gives me a 255 ft of horizontal loop antenna . If you do view image The pictures will come out right side up .

Re: Upgrade from an rtl-sdr dongle?

The Airspy HF+ dongle has a couple of things that I don,t like . 1 it does have a fold over problem on HF that can be worked through. The other problem is that the HF+doesn',t have any gain control for the VHF part and their is no UHF . Now Since I like to surf the HF air waves the HF+is every thing...

Re: Upgrade from an rtl-sdr dongle?
