Re: Upgrade from an rtl-sdr dongle?
Hello, So ladder line + transformer is better than normal wire + balun ? How does the RTL-SDR "Portable Antenna Set with 7M Long Wire and Telescopic Whip" perform in HF ? Does "Matching SMA Adapter" mean that there's some sort of balun or adapter in the sma connexion ? Thanks again for your help, Ja...

Re: Upgrade from an rtl-sdr dongle?
Hello,
Thanks for the photos. What receiver are you using for HF, how is the antenna connected to it (directly or with a balun) ?
What sort of distance can you receive ?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Upgrade from an rtl-sdr dongle?
Hello, Thanks for the new answers. In the end, I bought an Airspy mini and a spyverter r2. For the moment, I haven't got a suitable antenna for HF. I would love to have reception like the one :http://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901 . I tried a long wire in the attic without much success, just noise ! May...

Re: Upgrade from an rtl-sdr dongle?
Hello and thanks for the reply.
I don't think that the "nesdr" is any better than the RTL-SDR V3, which is already a very good sdr.
An upgrade to the RTL-SDR V3 dongle would be something like the airspy or the sdrplay.
Regards,
James

Upgrade from an rtl-sdr dongle?
Hello, I enjoy playing with my RTL-SDR v3 dongle for VHF and UHF but I would like to listen to HF. With the direct sampling mode, I can't receive much. I think that there's too much interference. What is the best way to listen to HF when you live in a town, with very little outside space for an ante...

Re: Successeur du RTL blog v3
Hello, Thanks for your quick answer. For the price, I think that I'll stay with the RTLSDR V3 dongle. More bandwdith would be nice but is it worth the price of 5 RTLSDR V3 dongles ?! As I've already said, I'm having lots of fun with my cheap dongle (AIS, ACARS, ADS-B, NOAA, Inmarsat, RTL_433, weathe...

Re: Successeur du RTL blog v3
Hello, In a nutshell, what does an 'expensive' sdr do compared to a 'cheap' one? Does it receive weaker signals, is the sound quality better. For example, on the hdsdr website, it says don't expect wonders from the rtlsdr v3 dongle (http://www.hdsdr.de/hardware.html). I'm using the rtlsdr v3 dongle,...
