Re: Help! Using rtl-sdr dongle v3 + sdr# but no real result

What kind of antenna are you using? Can someone give me a simple instruction that will play some radio. I am about 50km east of Stockholm, Sweden. I bought an rtl-sdr v3 dongle from a local dealer in sweden. It seems to run, but all I get is noise audio and seemingly pointless spectrum. I AM a newbi...

RTL.SDR-> SDR# -> ACARS--- question on steering audio

Thanks in advance for your patience. I'm trying to use ACARSD, along with the above and Virtual Sound Card. I think I understand the process, but I don't know how to get the audio controls on SDR# to "ungrey" so that I can define the audio paths. They're all greyed out. IU have a trial copy of Virtu...

Re: Shortwave reception (SDR)

If you're still here on the forum, I can help you with a yagi - type directional antenna that will provide significant gain, if you're even relatively handy with PVC pipe, small bits of wire and soldering skills.

We're talking a couple dollars tops here in materials.

Re: Not very successfull with SDR - Advice

Connector will have no discernable difference in this application. Loss of a PL259 vs N is waaay less that 2 db (otherwise they'd get REALLY hot when run in a 500 watt VHF amp...and they don't!) A piece of wire on the floor attached to the SMA with clipleads should easily receive local AM aviation s...

Re: Does

Did you remember to press stop in SDR# first? You can't change it if the SDR is running. Thank you, I'm sure that's it. I should probably have tried to become competent with one environment (HW/SW) before mixing the two. There's a fairly steep learning curve of unique buttons to push (particular wi...

I had a RTLSDR dongle running with SDR#. I then hooked up my SDRPlay and installed SDRUno. Going back to the SDR dongle, the next day , I find that I seem NOT be able to toggle the "Q" or "I" selection as they're greyed out (as one does to enable direct sampling on HF) Any reason that one should cau...

Re: Antenna on the roof or in the attic ?

The HAM bands seem to be very quiet in France... James, I'm a n00b when it comes to SDR, but a long time ham. I know there's a lot of ham activity in Europe because I can here it here from the states. For HF activity (say, 7Mhz-7.2Mhz) just unspool 30' of wire out the window, or taped to the top of...
