Re: Long USB-cable vs long antenna-cable?

Cons of using an active USB extender are that your device could be more susceptible to external disruptions. Not like a noise on the band itself but for example when I'm running the washing machine in my house, its motor start can crash RTL-SDR. When it does, you have to replug the device. If you do...

Can I run spyserver on armv5tel?

So I installed a fully working Debian on a NAS. Its arch is armv5tel. I downloaded spyserver for arm and: [root] [~/spyserver] # ls spyserver-arm32.tgz [root] [~/spyserver] # tar zxf spyserver-arm32.tgz [root] [~/spyserver] # ls spyserver* spyserver-arm32.tgz spyserver.config spyserver_ping* [root] ...

SDR Sharp don't remember zoom setting

There are 4 sliders on the right side of SDR Sharp: Zoom, Contrast, Range, Offset for display graph controlling. Settings of Contrast, Range and Offset are kept fine when the app is closed and open again. But not zoom. It always resets to default zero value which is so annoying. Any ideas to make it...

Re: Balanced antenna for direct sampling

I just thought why would I even need a ladder line when I can mount the dongle directly at the antenna? And I made this: 20180728_184641.jpg Then I attached a dipole antenna to both ends which works as its expected. It may not be perfect, weatherproof and it requires a long active USB cable but I th...

Re: Balanced antenna for direct sampling

Thanks. What about using standard TV antenna baluns (75 <-> 300 ohm) for this purpose? I understand they are not usually used by HAMs due to low TX power they could take but can I use them for RTL SDR direct sampling when I'm using RX only? Any cons?

Balanced antenna for direct sampling

So I've been doing a lot of research on HF antennas and I've come to this conclusion: Why would I use an impedance transformer at RTL2832U pins, then the 50ohm feeder line and then again some balun when I can build a multiband dipole fed through a ladder line, right? This way I have a balanced anten...

Re: SDR# scanner plugin

I'm using the scanner plugin from Frequency Manager Suite and it does work very well but not for long. It works for about a day, sometimes two, finding real frequencies but then something happens and it is still scanning but it doesn't find real frequencies anymore, it just finds static and garbage....

Frequency correction (ppm) and Spy Server

So my cheap RTL2832U & R820T2 dongle needs about 32ppm frequency correction. It all works well on my local machine but how to get it working with the Spy Server? I've tried this:

frequency_correction_ppb = 32

In the spyserver.config file but that didn't work. Any ideas?
