Re: Is it my old age?

Yes, a cavity filter would be much better than most any LC filter, but I think they are more expensive, too. As for the discrepancies in the circuits, rf-tools have quite a few options (i.e.: topology)now that weren't there last year. I generally trust the filters generated there, although I've seen...

Re: Is it my old age?

While there are some band specific LNAs, I don't think there is one for that frequency. If you really want one, you could put a bandpass filter in front of a wideband LNA. Here is a 116-152Mhz Band Pass Rf Filter: https://www.ebay.com/itm/116-152Mhz-Band-Pass-Rf-Filter-3567N/192001554740?hash=item2c...

Re: whatever happened with mirics?

I haven't seen many official documentation for either the R820T or the Realtek chip, but they're at least available to purchase for mortal beings without much hassle. (i.e. eBay) But for the Mirics chips, neither docs, nor chips, so no surprise there aren't very many products with them. As far as I ...

Re: Airspy HF+ Discovery

If you haven't seen in the front page, the Discovery got reviewed by WRTH here: https://irp-cdn.multiscreensite.com/46d0be53/files/uploaded/WRTH2020Features_Airspy_Discovery_review.pdf and it got an excellent grade, as illustrated by their conclusion: Overall, we find it remarkable and very commenda...

Re: My key

Is that a so called "transponder key"? Transponder keys do not have a battery; it is an embedded chip which is powered by the radio signals itself that are sent by the car. The radio signals are of a very low strength that they activate the chip only when the key is very near to the dashboard or whe...

Re: USB ports and sdr....

Some SDR dongles can use around 300 - 350 mA, so you want cables with reasonable PWR and GND conductors for the length of the cable.

Re: Nvidia HDMI audio problems

Not sure if that applies to your situation, but you can get a same error message when trying to use an rtl-sdr without running install_rtlsdr.bat first.

Re: SDR# Question & SDRPlay Units ?

SDRUno is the recommended software for SDRplay units, and only that program will work best. While that may very well be correct (I have no experience with them together) older releases of SDR# did indeed work with some SDRPlay devices. Personally, I tried SDRUno with a RTL-SDR v3, and I can underst...

Re: SDR# Question & SDRPlay Units ?

I think older releases of SDR# should work with SDRPlay devices.

Don't own or used any RSP device, so this is based on only what I remember reading.
Not sure about the version number, but it could be 1361 and older.
