Re: Outdoor tower (tree) antenna mounting questions for Kraken and Kerberos SDR

Thanks for the feedback. I think I could probably still make it work if I remoted the USB over fiber, and kept the Pi on the ground. I can easily powercycle the unit remotely, but am I correct in assuming the KrakenSDR is not weatherized and must go in a weatherproof case? Any idea as to the power c...

Outdoor tower (tree) antenna mounting questions for Kraken and Kerberos SDR

Folks, given the upcoming KrakenSDR with builtin switching for calibration, as well as the retrofit switching hardware for the Kerberos SDR (https://www.tindie.com/products/lakeshorelabs/set-of-4-spdt-rf-switches-with-50-ohm-load/), I am thinking about mounting an array, probably a circular one high...

Re: RF Switch Boards for KSDR

Any idea yet when the v2 hardware will ship? I am going to do an antenna upgrade in the next few months and was hoping to mount one at the same time.

Re: Mounting Kerberos SDR high up in a tree

That's great! Enabling flexible fixed operation enables the SDR's at much higher heights and crowdsourcing of access like you see with HF SDR sites that are publicly available...

Re: Feedback on possible KerberosSDR V2 Hardware

Some comments on the wish list: 1) Definitely RF switches to enable calibration without disconnecting antennas. This would pave the way for fixed site rooftop installations, and potentially a crowdsourced RDF network. Think about these mounted on towers or rooftops, and taskable from a frequency POV...

Re: A crossed Yagi for 255 mHz. SatCom

Neat... can you outline what you started with and what you did to make it work? I’d be interested in doing the same if it’s not that hard...

Mounting Kerberos SDR high up in a tree

Hi... So I am a ham with multiple antennas, mostly in trees because of local zoning issues. I have a 115 ft tall redwood tree, and I was thinking about mounting the kerberos SDR and a set of antennas up near the top of the tree. I have conduit from my house to the base of that tree which has other a...

Re: RTL-SDR's in an outdoor box

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I was planning on putting a powered hub up there, and then using USB over CAT5 extenders to go from the outdoor housing into the attic where the NUC will sit. That way I don't have to try and carry power for the sticks over the USB cable itself, just signal. I'm trying to ...

RTL-SDR's in an outdoor box

Hi. I'm building a new house, and I have the opportunity to mount a few antennas on a horizontal mast on the roof (supported by a very nice heavy duty mast coming through the roof. I am a ham, so I will have a 2m/70cm vertical, a GMRS antenna, a 1090 MHz ADS-B antenna, and a couple discones and mayb...
