Re: Finding a signal frequency Via type of antena

In which country or state do you live? You can try to figure out what horns are used, what their size it is and determine the yagi element sizes. Then use an online yagi calculator to find out the frequency.

Re: Unknow signal

It's Mobitex: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobitex I got dozens of these signals in my area: http://i66.tinypic.com/qnkbac.png About 15 years ago police and ambulances used this system for the data terminal+screens in their cars... It was all clear text back then when I used a 2-level modem on a sc...

Re: Popping noises

I can test it but I can tell you in advance that rtl_tcp use much less CPU load than SpyServer. My Raspberry Pi 3B+ is idling 98.8% at all times.

Re: Popping noises

I'm running the dongle at 2.048 MSPS over a local LAN network with rtl_tcp. I'm currently testing my spare dongle for 2 days with no issues at all. This is the rtl_test output after letting it run for 5 minutes from the dongle without problems: [email protected]:~/rtl-sdr $ rtl_test Found 1 device(s): ...

Popping noises

Does anyone else have popping noises during listening? It sounds like a recording with a microphone without wind screen / pop filter. I do hear it mostly on the 70 cm band. I can hear it during transmissions but also with static noise while there is no signal. With audio filtering enabled the poppin...

Re: Decoding Issues

You also should set the bandwidth to 34 kHz instead of 250 kHz

Re: Ground RTL-SDR to mast. Good or bad idea?

I do not necessarily want to ground everything. Nothing is properly grounded, it's just an 30 mm diameter aluminium pipe with an Diamond X30N antenna on top of it on the attic. I had this same setup around 10 years ago with a coax cable running to a lower floor. The reason I want to use cable ties t...
