Re: AM frequency help with rtl-sdr USB

you can listen aircraft AM band (118–136.975 MHz) with any RTLSDR dongle. There is NO needs up/down converter for that. You can do it with RTLSDR, but the signal is weak, so you're needs good antenna and may be bandpass filter and LNA

Re: ExtIO_RTLSDR# - custom ExtIO for RTLSDR

how is possible to reduce the RF gain ? In particular on low hf bands where the noise is so high. There is no way to tune gain for direct sampling mode on RTLSDR dongle. Because there is no hardware which allows to change gain. Gain can be tuned for tuner, which is not used in direct sampling mode....

Try clicking that Correct IQ button.
swap I/Q cannot help with noise floor, it just mirrors frequencies around DC (LO frequency)

Re: Newbie : listening 3Khz to 148 Khz with upconverter ?

24 bit sound card has dynamic range up to 140 dB... well not all, but let's say we have 130 dB dynamic range. With 1V line-in input, the receiver sensitivity will be about 0.3 uV. This is more than enough for VLF band. Because background noise is much higher than receiver sensitivity through 1V line...

Re: ExtIO_RTLSDR# - custom ExtIO for RTLSDR

I saw that you wrote that if needed you could compile one (6bit ExtIO_RTLSDR#). Could you please? :D yes, I can compile it for x64. But I'm not sure that I can test it on this software, it needs time to research what is it and how it works. I can share it here, but I think first version may works i...
