Re: RTL.SDR v3 ~2kHz noice during FM receiving

That looks like a fake RTL-SDR.com V3 dongle.

Re: AM frequency help with rtl-sdr USB

As long as the FM broadcast stations have a significantly higher signal level (and chances are that's the case) you're DOA without some filtering or down conversion. I listen to airband all the time with no LNA and no FM bandstop filter. I'm not saying that it can't kill his reception (it definitel...

Can you see the signal in the waterfall? Have you selected AM as the demodulator?

Re: AM frequency help with rtl-sdr USB

What software are you using? I can pick up air band on my RTL-SDR.com V3 dongle using GQRX software and only the supplied cheap telescoping magnetic base antenna. If you are right next to an airport, you should be able to hear airband.

Re: AM frequency help with rtl-sdr USB

The lowest frequency in air band is like 100 MHz, why would he need direct sampling? OP: What software are you using? Software such as SDR#, GQRX, HDSDR, etc. can all demodulate airband AM, and no direct sampling is required. Just plug in the dongle, hook up just about ANY antenna, and fire up the s...

Re: Newby-beginner question

Which SDR are you talking about? If talking about the RTL-SDR.com V3 dongle, then you can pretty much Rx to any frequency between 500kHz and 1.75 GHz. You can not Tx at all. Some other SDRs (HackRF, Lime, Pluto, Icom) allow for Tx, too (but all will have different operating bands and output powers)....

Re: Direct sampling option greyed-out

Are you using an RTL-SDR.com V3 dongle? It sounds like you are not, and I think thats what that option is for, no? Can you provide a link to the SDR you bought on amazon?
