Re: Can I observe TV channels using an rtl2832u?

I mean, if you're in europe, you should be able to receive DVB-T with these. That's what it was designed for. I forget where else DVB-T is used. ATSC is way too wide bandwidth, in north america and i think japan?

Re: DIY QFH for NOAA, pvc and copper tube plans, but smaller diameter copper?

Thanks. Just measured my tubing and the OD is 5/16 inch. So, very slightly smaller than the original plans. Seems Close Enough. Maybe making the horizontal pieces 1.6mm longer to keep the helical elements at the same distance center to center. maybe it doesn't even need to be that precise. Edit: Oh ...

DIY QFH for NOAA, pvc and copper tube plans, but smaller diameter copper?

I'm considering building the popular QFH antenna described here: http://tinhatranch.com/how-to-build-a-qfh-quadrifilar-helix-antenna-to-download-images-from-weather-satellites/ But part of why I'm considering it is because i have a bunch of copper tubing already left over from a project years ago. T...

Re: Problem in project 24/7 with RTL-SDR v3

rtl_fm will run on a Raspberry Pi 24/7 with very little CPU load. But you might want to put a heat sink on the RTL-SDR, plus possibly run a fan nearby, depending on ambient temperatures and air flow. I haven't noticed either of my rtl sdrs running significantly hot. I have an old e4000 based dvb-t ...

Re: Problem in project 24/7 with RTL-SDR v3

I've never tried to monitor one frequency for that long so I don't have any direct experience, but sdrsharp is a lot of software for such a mundane task.

I would have tried to use one of the command-line tools like rtl_fm

Re: More fake units sold on Ebay

He meant the original filter RTL-SDR.COM, but component values are trade secret, of course. what is the secret? You can desolder components measure it and solder it back with no problem... :ugeek: I'm asking what component values are used just to put it into simulator and compare how aliexpress fak...

Re: Solution to spyserver "Could not acquire the device" error on Linux with rtl-sdr device

fwiw my observation vis-a-vis the sample rate setting for spyserver is that when you connect to it with sdrsharp or sdr console, you will only be able to select sample rates the same or lower than that number which are actually a valid sample rate for your hardware. Or maybe that is more correctly, ...

Re: Solution to spyserver "Could not acquire the device" error on Linux with rtl-sdr device

How did you install the RTL-SDR drivers, manually, or via the repos? I don't think i've ever come across this issue before on multiple Linux/Raspbian installs of Spyserver (although I did those several months ago), but thanks for providing a fix! "apt-get install rtl-sdr" was how I installed them. ...

Re: Sensitivity issue / antennas

Brand new user here, read all the instructions, users guide, everything, but EXTREMELY disappointed in reception! Tried all sorts of adjustments on the included "dipole" antenna elements, even connected to external discone antenna, and STILL very little signal! Since you mention the dipole i assume...
