Hard Question: Is it worth all the headaches?
OK, I'll be the bummer, downer, bad guy and ask the obvious question: Is SDR really ready for prime time? Is it worth the hassle and hoops we have to jump through? I got mine installed after about 4 hours of false starts, rebooting, erasing everything, re-installing, fine tuning, extra add-ons, and ...

Re: To near to the RF source?
A dying dongle!!?? I KNOW there's a joke in there somewhere, but I won't touch it, ha, ha! (Ya know, like there's always Viagra!) Seriously, I wouldn't worry about it: The voltage from an antenna is minute and shouldn't damage anything. That is, unless it's unless it's a 200 watt ham transmitter or ...

RTL-SDR (USB) not in the Source menu
RTL-SDR (USB) is not in the Source menu. It was there the first few times I turn on the SDR, but now the only thing remotely close to that is RTL-SDR TCP. Not sure if this is related, but every time I start the SDRsharp.exe file it's like starting all over again to install, getting the Windows warni...

Re: How to reset Bulk-In, Interface (Interface 1)
OK, got it figured out.
I merged steps 9 and 10 together.
You have to complete step 9, then repeat the same procedure to the USB with the RTL pull-down menu option.
I erased all the downloaded files, started over, and completed steps 9 and 10 thoroughly and
FINALLY got the Airspy working. Whoo-Hoo!

Re: How to reset Bulk-In, Interface (Interface 1)
HELP! Same problem; No solution found yet. Checked drivers: Yes, I had installed Bulk 1 instead of Bulk 0, but under Devices, it just lists "Bulk Interface" and nothing about 0 or 1. Now the Airspy program opens but just a black box with a blinking cursor. No glory found here. Sheesh, I'm educated ...

Re: Newbie Question: Computer System Requirements
Thanks for your help guys. Did some research: 1. YES, you DO need and internet connection - - you need to download and install several programs, extract them and run them. 2. YES, you need a relatively modern operating system. The SDR software doesn't work with earlier OS versions, such as Vista. No...

Newbie Question: Computer System Requirements
Newbie here, so please pardon the "Duh!" factor. Are there any computer system "must-have" for the SDR to work? Specifically . . . I have an old laptop and an old desktop both running Windows 10, but relatively slow clock speed and and not connected to the internet. Will using the dongle on those pr...

Re: SDR Streaming and Setup
Uh, I probably know less than most folks on this board, but one simple solution is to point a web cam at the radio display and simply live-stream that.
I'm sure there are more efficient ways if you want to rebroadcast the audio only.
MHO.
