Re: AIRSPY basic question

I want to use an Airspy rater than the RTL-SRD. Basically that would be for the projects in the Hobbyist Guide. I should have been more specific in my opening post. In most of those application the RTL-SDR is identified as a choice of the SDR to use, but the Airspy is not.

AIRSPY basic question

Can an Airspy unit be used in programs where the rtl-sdr is one of the options while Airspy is not listed as a choice? I know this is rather basic but before I buy an Airspy I'd like to be sure it will work.

Re: FunCubeDongle

For now I am using W10. I'm working on getting the system working for the Windows version of FoxTelm and need the biastee on among other things. Also hoping to be able to do the GPS project from the rtl-sdr book that requires the bias tee to power the gps antenna. These will be couple of show and te...

Re: FunCubeDongle

I do have one of the units. Now I want to try and use it with a couple of projects like the ones for the RTL-SDR. In particular I'm starting with the GPS project. My problem is getting the bias tee powered on. There seems to be a real shortage of information on the dongle and how to use it bias tee ...

I know there are users on here that use the dongle. I'm just looking for some additional users.

Re: Validate bias tee is on

OK I just shipped the dongle back to the Amazon seller. They paid the UPS shipping and provided a shipping label. So I'll move on from here. I considered buying one of the AIRSPY SDR units. However I am concerned as all the listed seller on the Airspy site shown noting new posted on thier site since...

Re: Validate bias tee is on

After a lot more testing I noticed the slightest movement and the dongle will disconnect and reconnect. This happens when the dongle is plugged directly into any of three USB interfaces on my 2-4-1. It appears to be the USB connector on the dongle that makes and breaks the connection. I guess...

Re: Validate bias tee is on

I am sure this is a genuine RTL-SDR unit. I was very careful to inspect the unit against the information on the website describing the knock off units. I've been burnt before by knock off parts.

Re: Validate bias tee is on

I just repeated my "testing" after eliminating the USB cable from the computer to the dongle. No change in the results.

Maybe I should change to another computer just to validate my testing. I orignially was using a Dell 2-4-1 for this. I do have other computers available for this test.

Re: Validate bias tee is on

I did what I would call a fundamental test. With the computer off I used a VOM from the center pin on the antenna side of the RTL-SDR SMA to the housing. Zero reading. With the computer on I used a VOM from the center pin on the antenna side of the RTL-SDR SMA to the housing. Zero reading Ran the BT...
