Re: Major interference from computer
You did not answer the important questions. Does it stop if the antenna is disconnected? If so what is the antenna, where is it? Alan I disconnected the antenna, and the interference disappeared. Booting the desktop computer did not have any effect near 118 MHz when the antenna was disconnected. I'...

Re: Major interference from computer
I unplugged all cables except power and display cable from my desktop computer while using the RTL-SDR on the laptop, but the interference did not go away. I also tried running Furmark and Linpack stress tests on the desktop computer to see if the interference changed when the power supply load incr...

Major interference from computer
I was playing with my RTL-SDR stick using my desktop computer. On many frequency ranges, the spectrum was "wavy", and there was strong audible interference, like this: SDR_interference_original.png I was wondering what was causing this, could it come from my desktop computer or some other equipment....

Re: Dangers of ESD
By hand is fine. The ESD diodes in the dongle can handle that easily. And there is a bleed resistor on the dipole itself. Outdoor ESD from high winds/sand etc may be too high. Direct or nearby lightning when connected to an unprotected outdoor antenna will fry it. Thanks. Good to know that the risk...

Dangers of ESD
Hello all, I just purchased a RTL-SDR v3 stick and the dipole antenna kit. I was wondering if it's safe to adjust the antenna by hand when it's connected to the RTL-SDR. Is there a risk of ESD damage? As a precaution, I touched the computer case (at an unpainted location) to discharge myself before ...
