Discone seems to be the best option for the entire frequency rage the default units can handle 25mhz-2ghz.
Simple easy build would be those steel tomato cages for $1-2 each.

I've been thinking of trying a direct connection from (dual band UHF/VHF) handheld radio directly to the NooElec unit, but I am curious what the limit of RF input it can handle. Would even 1W from a handheld overpower or possibly fry the unit? If not would it handle 4-5W? Otherwise to get a fairly a...
