Re: need help... nothing but noise

Have you been adjusting the RF gain? I believe that control is under the Input Controls tab in GQRX.

Re: Avermedia RTL - compability

Does that device have an RTL2832U chip in it? Only TV tuners with that chip will work for SDR.

Re: Installation Issue

Another user on this forum had luck with this problem by installing the drivers from safe mode. Some USB 3.0 ports also seem to cause this problem, if you can make sure you are using a USB 2.0 port. Another thing to try is to use another USB port and reinstall zadig from there. Long USB extension ca...

Re: No tuner found error? SDR not working!

Okay that dongle you bought is an R820T tuner. Some dodgy sellers on Ebay are misleading customers by putting E4000 in their titles, when in fact it is a R820T dongle. There's nothing wrong with the R820T though, and in most cases it is actually better than the E4000. It's just that the E4000 is rar...

Re: Any Radar that can trace the location of the radio trans

The software RTLSDR Scanner by eartoearoak can do this now. Basically you drive around with an RTL-SDR and GPS unit connected and it correlates GPS location and signal strength. From that you can create a signal strength heatmap and see where signal is the strongest. http://eartoearoak.com/software/...

Re: R820T Tuner IC I2C commands

This is a bit more complicated than what most discussion on this forum is about. Also, I don't think Rafael would reply to you as I think the tuner information is actually under NDA. You could try look through the reverse engineered rtl-sdr driver code on the Osmocom website, or ask on their mailing...

Re: No tuner found error? SDR not working!

Do you have a link to the dongle you bought?

If you have a R820T tuner model, rtl_test will say no E4000 found and that is fine and normal.

Not sure what is wrong with your Windows set up and not seeing the frequency tuner...did you try go through the Quickstart Guide on this blog and install SDR#?

Re: Looking for old SDR# source (SVN) from March or April

I don't have a source but tbh, I wouldn't really bother with SDR# in Linux in the first place. It was never really fully stable and was quite slow under Mono.

Better to just use GQRX which is somewhat similar to SDR#.

Re: Ok what am i doing wrong

Hmmm unfortunately, it seems that some USB 3.0 controllers are just buggy and don't play nice with several devices, including the RTL-SDR. I've never seen a laptop with only USB 3.0, so it might be a case of bad luck for now. I'll update this thread or make a post on the blog if I ever hear about a ...

Re: Using 2 RTL-SDR dongles

With what program? Most programs let you specify a device flag where you can choose which dongle you want to use.
