I used 450 ohm latter line to a matching transformer, not a balun , a transformer isolates the antenna from the the receiver .
The transformer is 450 ohms to 75 ohms . I am using the HF+. Now for distance with propagation half way around the big blue ball .

Hi James ,
for a HF antenna I am using the metal flashing on the eaves of my house and it gives me a 255 ft of horizontal loop antenna . If you do view image The pictures will come out right side up .

The Airspy HF+ dongle has a couple of things that I don,t like . 1 it does have a fold over problem on HF that can be worked through. The other problem is that the HF+doesn',t have any gain control for the VHF part and their is no UHF . Now Since I like to surf the HF air waves the HF+is every thing...

I would suggest getting a MFJ 1020C pre-selector. It works very well with the RTL-SDR V3, I used one on till I got HF+

Hi Snn 47 . I would suggest use a TV signal splitter , you can get them at Walmart , Lows , Home Depot Best Buy . Anyway the signal splitters are also Combiners as you have found out . Their is a drop of signal of about 8DB . You can put a LNA that everybody is selling in front of the Combiner/ spli...

A disk cone antenna works good also , just make sure you get one that has a " N " connector on it .
