Re: new Broadband design dc to 25 GHz to a much wider bandwidth of 10 to 110 GHz.

Well its hard for most DIYers to test the antenna at those frequencies, but you can probably make a fairly good eliptical monopole for lower frequencies(up to a few GHz). Obviously you need the kit to test and adjust it for optimum performance, but it will probably work well enough with guess work. ...

Re: UltraWideBand antenna design

Your cheap ADS-B antenna is will help filter out out of band signals. A bit like having a bandpass filter built in. With the UWB antenna there will be lots of other strong signals getting into the front end of the HackRF. This will lift the noise floor. The hackRF, while a great SDR for the money, i...

Re: UltraWideBand antenna design

It should work pretty well for ADS-B Its not very directional below about 1.7GHz so it wont be good for Lband sigbals that need high gain. It would work ok for GPS or Iridium/thurays etc(i.e. systems that use a LEO or MEO satellite). I think INMARSAT normally works with a high gain antenna pointing ...

Re: UltraWideBand antenna design

Hi, sorry for the delay. Its a 1/4-20 UNC thread. Its the standard thread for most tripods and cameras.

Re: UltraWideBand antenna design

So for those frequencies it should work well in the 3.1 to 3.4GHz band.

At 1.2 to 1.4GHz this antenna will work and is efficient, but doesn't provide any directionality over and above that of a normal dipole. Still useful IMO

Re: UltraWideBand antenna design

I'm not familiar with the frequencies airport radars use(other than the 1090MHz SSR/ads-b).

But my guess would be that it probably will.

Re: LimeSDR and speed update in SDRConsole

I am using the FTDI drivers. Windows finds and downloads them them automatically.

The more tests I do the more I think that my unit it a lemon. I have tried a friends Lime-Mini on the same FW version and drivers and it works(well mostly).

Re: LimeSDR and speed update in SDRConsole

I cant the LimeSDRmini to work on anything but the LimeSuiteGUI. I have tried 3 different computers and both Ubuntu and Windows. The big Lime-USB works fine on all. I have posted my issues on the myriadrf forum, but have totally run out of things to try. https://discourse.myriadrf.org/t/problems-wit...

My antenna was recently tested by AntennaTestLab Please find the results here http://antennatestlab.com/ antenna-examples/example-7- antipodal-vivaldi-antenna- exponential-slot-edge-pcb?utm_ source=HexAndFlex And my own interpretation of the results here. http://hexandflex.com/2018/02/28/ultra-wideb...

Re: What happens if I hook up a loudspeaker as antenna?

I really like this video for giving an easily understood and importantly accurate guide to how antennas work. https://youtu.be/T-SbBlNgUTU After that the http://www.antenna-theory.com/m/index.php website is a really good source of information. Then, if you want to play and experiment 4nec2 is an eas...
