Re: Listening to airband in the uk ?

Yes, set to AM.

Pilots talk all the time :)

Especially around larger airports.
Constant radio-chatter during rush-hour (Daytime is usually the busiest, and nightime a bit slower)

Re: Listening to airband in the uk ?

Mode: AM

Bandwidth: 10,000 (You CAN set it to 8,333, but there's really no benefit from doing so in my opinion)

Order: 1,000 (You can try different values here, and see which you prefer. 10 makes it sound very bright. 1000 seems fine to me)

Step-size: 5,000

Re: Wire-dipole, curled up or cut to fit?

Thank you :) Yes, the more I experiment with things, the more I learn that even little differences in placement seem to be able to have a huge difference in reception. I'm just not sure if it's really how I place things, or if it's rather the impact from weather (Propagation), that makes the biggest...

Re: Complete newbie having audio issue

Maybe play with the settings. In this video you can see a user playing with different settings on FM-radio, and hear how it impacts reception. Notice all the settings in the left-side menu and see if you have yours in a similar way. (WFM for FM-radio, for example) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oD...

Wire-dipole, curled up or cut to fit?

Which of these set-ups would be preferable for reception? Let's say we have a room that is 10 units wide and we place the SDR in the middle (So having 5 units to each side) We have a wire-dipole that is 20 units from pole-tip to pole-tip (So each pole is 10 units long) Which of these 3 lay-outs woul...

Re: Web SDR with RTL-SDR dongles.

Great pictures and setup :) Which distances can you run the USB at with a powered hub? I have run into issues when trying to go above 5 meter from the computer (Using unpowered USB extender cables, which do state they have a length-limit) Can you get 10 or 15 meters if using powered hubs? Any downsi...

HAM digital @ 144.470

Just captured this and couldn't find any mode in multipsk that seemed to decode it. It kept repeating its sequence and I recorded 2 runs; one on USB and one on LSB (Since I don't know which one may be correct for it) I also looked through the signal-wiki but couldn't find any signal that seemed to m...

Re: SDRSharp stuck sometimes (or dongle)

I have had some cases where using USB-extension cables led to similar behavior.

Maybe not relevant here, but I just thought I would mention it :)

Re: Where do the antenna actually begin?

I ditched the monopole-design I was attempting here and went for a simple dipole instead. Less rabbit-holes to fall into :) Sitting where it sits in the picture (Lowest floor in an urban apartment, with 'Low-E' windows, so really sub-optimal conditions) I get a max range of about 220 km (137 US mile...
