Re: Sensitivity issue / antennas

If you can receive signals with a scanner but not the SDR, then you probably need to change some setting in SDR#. There is one called "Sensitivity" (I think that's what it's called. It's one of the first settings and it must be pretty high) When that is not raised sufficiently high then the SDR won'...

Re: Question regarding loop designs

To answer my own question, in case others may one day be in a similar situation; I did an experiment, using a loop of 4 turns. Result was good, but did not appear to be better than putting the same antenna up indoors (Of course it's hard to compare directly when doing it over different days, but at ...

Re: Question regarding loop designs

An outside antenna is not allowed here, so that's why I thought of using the railing as a kind of camouflage (People around here use them to string Christmas-lights around and that's considered acceptable, so a wire around it would not be conspicuous) I'm not exactly looking for a particular frequen...

Re: Question regarding loop designs

It's a kind of french balcony grate (Without the balcony though. It's basically a metal-tube bent into a square, with an attached metal mesh in the middle) The only structure outside I can mount the loop-wire on, unfortunately. It looks a bit like the image, except the mesh in the middle is both hor...

Question regarding loop designs

Hi guys :) I'm hoping somebody has some knowledge on loop-antenna designs. I consider 4 different designs (In my case this is for reception only), but wonder which pros and cons each design may have. For all designs the following is true: It will be around a vertical square metal grid which is about...

Re: Frequency Scanner Plugin config

What I'd like to do is use this to scan a few known frequencies instead of scanning the entire range -- that has a lot of noise, and pick up the ones that are transmitting, i.e. for a police scanner. What is the best way to configure this? Yes, scanning single channels is not what the scanner is ma...

Re: Airspy HF+ Discovery

I have been doing some antenna-tests with the 'discovery' and it is quite impressive what you can pull from this thing :)

Re: Frequency Scanner Plugin config

A late reply, but still :) Click the big red X to permanently lock out a channel from the scan (It will be listed in the frequencies.xml file in the section of excluded frequencies) If it is a channel that has a constant carrier, then it should already be skipped while scanning though, as the scanne...

Re: Antenna location question

Lots of experiments later and I've reached a conclusion: Higher indoor location beats lower outdoor location every time (At least in the building I am in) It hasn't mattered what type of antenne, or how it was placed, they all responded the same way; height being more important than inside vs outsid...
