I just picked up one of these , NooElec NESDR Mini+ Al - 0.5PPM TCXO USB RTL-SDR Receiver (RTL2832 + R820T) w/ Antenna and Remote Control, Installed in Aluminum Enclosure
And opened up and saw 2-3 empty SMD locations , any one notice these and or no the details of use / or lack of ?
I would suggest looking at the through hole points of connectors USB & MXC for solder joints not completely covered , with the tension of the connections I could see that they could come lose , they were lacking any solder on the top side of the board , ok on the bottom side .

The unpopulated areas near the USB connected are for an alternative 3.3V power source, I think.
