2,4 Ghz Down converter

Hello,

I need to buy a down converter to use the Rtl_Sdr Usb Key to scan the 2,4 Ghz frequencies range, like done here:

My doubt is on the down converter to choose:

2.2-2.4 Ghz or 2.4-2.6 Ghz ?

The author of the article above has preferred the 2.2-2.4 GHz down converter instead of the 2.4-2.6 version.

If you're looking at freq's above 2.4 GHz, i'd think that the 2.4 - 2.6 one would work better, though both will probably work just fine. He probably just chose that one as they are much more common.

I'm going to buy the 2.4-2.6 Ghz version.

I suspect that a power injector for the down converter is always needed because it's an active device.

Yep, you'll need a power injector of some sort. Be careful that the DC power doesn't enter the RTL-SDR dongle, or it may get fried.

I started with interests in the SDR from ham radio and bought a package from Nooelec .
But also thought about using to troubleshoot wifi 2.4 & 5 ghz , so looking for an downconverter also ?
