Cordless phones with rtl sdr v3?

Post by Jekko » Thu Dec 20, 2018 1:41 pm

Hello

https://www.rtl-sdr.com/listening-in-to ... -a-hackrf/

Should be possible to receive these frequencies with the rtl sdr v3 without other components?

Thank you

As per rtl sdr v3 spec sheet: "Frequency Range: 500 kHz – 1766 MHz", which is a bit below the DECT ranges.
"In most countries DECT communications take place at 1880 - 1900 MHz, and in the USA at 1920 - 1930 MHz."

This means that the rtl sdr v3 is not guaranteed to work, but because the difference isn't that big, it may still work, although the chances aren't very good: "The vendor of the R820T2 claims operation up to 1.864 GHz, but I found phase lock problems above 1.84 GHz". Of course, YMMV.

On the other hand, E4000 based SDRs should have no issue with DECT frequencies since the E4000 goes up to 2.2 GHz.

Assuming you have a DECT phone, just fire up SDR# and see if you can see a signal at the right frequency .

Yeah you'll need a E4000 or other SDR to reach those higher 1.9 GHz frequencies.
