home use server setup to support RTL-SDR dongle

Post by pawelp » Tue Feb 05, 2019 8:42 pm

Hi,
I'm about to configure a 24h running setup for home use that will track sky activities (meteors), and I'm looking for a suitable computer-server (linux?) to support the software (SDR#?) and the hardware (RTL-SDR usb dongle) .
any advices, pls ?

thx
Pawel

What is your budget?

Here at work we are using lots of SFF (Small Form Factor) Dell Optiplexes in test stations, and they are very nice for what we use them. Depending on configuration and whether you want something new, or used is OK, they can run anywhere from around $100 to $1000 or so.

great clue, with the SFF. Windows can run on it. I'll explore that.
thank you
