Is my RTL-SDR working ?

Post by Srinath » Tue Mar 12, 2019 9:11 am

I tried listening to FM radio using RTL_SDR (in GNU Radio)but was not successful. I suspect that the device is defective because I could hear the same with HackRF one. When I tried to look into the FFT plot of the RTL-SDR Source, I could not find any peaks in the FM frequencies (with or without an antenna connected). The device though is detected by the computer as the necessary drivers are installed.

The specifications for RTL_SDR source connected to FFT sink are:
Sampling rate : 2M
Ch0 freq: 97.9MHz
RF gain :10
IF, BB gain : 20

I have attached the FFT plot for the RTL-SDR source and even the device status information. Can you tell me whether I need to replace the SDR or should I do any other modifications to my current setup.

For shits and giggles turn your gaines to about 39 each.
