AM Mode Not Working Properly On Gqrx+Pi?

Post by Spartan » Sun May 19, 2019 5:33 pm

Has anybody had an issue with AM being extremely finicky with the V3 dongle and an installation of Gqrx on a Rasberry Pi? I can successfully use direct sampling, but it is almost as if AM mode gets overloaded, I can hear audio on all the other modes, but AM is usually silence, though it occasionally works. When it DOES work, it seems to kick itself off again when I tune to a strong station. My system is a 3B (not plus) with the latest Rasbian and with the recommended Gqrx install and drivers.
Is there anybody else experiencing this? I don't mind buying an up-convertor if it will fix the problem, but I would love to be able to play around in the meantime.

Run volks profile.

sudo apt-get install libvolk1-bin
volk_profile

This will absolutely fix....

It is recommended that users also install the libvolk1-bin package and run the volk_profile tool to optimize GNU Radio performance on the specific computer it is being used on.

sudo apt-get install libvolk1-bin
volk_profile
Wait for it to finish, then enjoy the performance boost :-)
