Interesting find, i'll look into it.
My guess is that because they've stopped selling the R820T2 for normal TV tuners, and it's mostly used for SDR now, they're just calling it the R820T3. Remember the only difference between the R820T and R820T2 was the place they were manufactured at, and the silicon quality.

reception quality is limited primary by RTL2832 chip, so better tuner chip cannot significantly improve quality.

The would be stupid when the not make more chips when the customer rip then out of there Hands.
