Meteor Image Issues

Post by njrusty » Tue Sep 03, 2019 5:01 pm

I am running my V3 SDR with a V-Dipole antenna and get crystal clear NOAA images, however when I try to image a Meteor image, I get some issues.

Basically, as the Meteor is on its southbound pass (directly flying overhead), everything due north is not being captured. However; once the satellite passes overhead and continues its southbound flight, I then start obtaining a crystal clear image of everything south of my position (I am in PA).

Anyone else have this issue or can recommend a solution (besides a better antenna)?

Thanks,
Russ

Russ, Sorry - better antenna. Probably QFH or like.

Ok, looking at building a QFH antenna with coax cable. Only question I have is: On one of the top horizontal PVC, do you run a single coax cable from the top, down toward the bottom PVC then back up the other side to the top. Repeat on the perpendicular top PVC and then solder the appropriate ends together with the feed cable? (I have pic for this).

I cannot get a clear answer as to whether this coax cable is 2 runs of a single cable going down then back up again.

Thanks!

So, it appears A/B get soldered to a BNC connector. C/D (not sure about the term Coax Passes) is one long cable that starts at top, travels down to bottom then returns back to top for solder???? Appreciate the help!!
