I took the plunge today

Post by oldcrow1973 » Wed Sep 04, 2019 3:26 am

I bought the rtl-sdr blog v3 package today on Amazon. I have SDRuno and SDR# downloaded but not opened. I've been studying this site for the last few days and feel comfortable with the soft ware. I have been an SWL and VHF/UHF listener as well as professional monitor for many years. I started out when my HAM uncle gave me a brand new Hammarlund HQ180 rcvr when I was 10. What a boat anchor! 18 tubes in that monster! He taught me the basics and helped me put up a long wire and the rest is history. I use a Windows 10 laptop and hopefully all drivers, etc. are up to date and I can't wait to plug that sucker in! I decided on the V3 after doing comparisons and the antenna set is a plus. I haven't seen too many sad faces over the quality/reliability of this unit so I hope to spend many hours looking at the pretty waterfall display. And hearing something, too!

I own 4 V3 dongles. 2 of them have been working around the clock as SatNogs receivers. One is used as half of a full duplex amateur satellite station, and one is a spare. None have ever given me problems and work as advertised. You can't beat the price, either.
