RTL Dongle
RTL Dongle
I have HDSDR and a Kenwood TS440at with CAT Control. I can interface the 440 with Ham Radio Deluxe. I also have Omni-Rig installed. Now, how does the RTL dongle tie into the system? Does the dongle tie into my HF Vertical and is that the RF feed to the computer and the HDSDR program? Also, if the RTL dongle will work with the Yaesu FT-857, it should work with the FT-450, right?

Re: RTL Dongle
Your in way over my head, i have really no idea what you are trying to do here.
Sorry i am not a HAM radio guy "Yet"
If you are just trying to figure out how to use the RTL Dongle Here is a start please read on:
If this isnt what you are trying to do then i am sorry i am lost here
I am pretty good with computers and i made this easy installer program for the SDR community.
This installer will:
Detect windows OS Version and install driver automatically no more manual select using zadig
Install unlimited dongles all in one click (no longer manually installing one by one using zadig)
No longer accidental (wrong device selection)
No longer will windows in some cases try to overwrite the driver with its default driver for "TV mode"
If desired you can opt to install the following with Basic settings pre-configured (handy for beginners):
*Basic install with common settings of SDRSHARP (shortcut to desktop)
*Install of ADSBSHARP and ADSBSCOPE pre-configured (shortcut to desktop)
*Help file to get started(shortcut to desktop)
*Uninstaller

Re: RTL Dongle
If you want to have a panadapter you need to connect the RTL-SDR to the first IF of your radio. Depending on the radio you might need to make a simple hardware modification to the radio to access the IF output. There is a guide for the FT-857 mod here - it's in Italian, but the images show the tap points quite clearly. http://www.radioamatoripeligni.it/i6ibe ... dapter.pdfN7KHZ wrote:I have HDSDR and a Kenwood TS440at with CAT Control.
