The RTL-SDR.com brand of FM trap does an excellent job of cleaning things up when there's a FM broadcast tower nearby. It even helps me receive signals with a cheap handheld VHF transceiver (5W) that is susceptible to out of band overload.

However, transmitting through a filter like this is a dicey proposition - does anyone know what the power limit might be for sending RF at say 146 MHz through the filter? Before I risk frying the filter I decided it would be worth it to post a query here.

You could look at the filter description!
It says some have said 5W with no damage but it's your risk.

The filter is designed only for RX, we put no design into making it work for TX. That said, a number of users now have reported that it works fine at 5W.
