I have 2 of the RTL-SDR ADS-B LNAs. One is a few years old. The other I purchased recently within a couple weeks of it going out of stock. I wanted to confirm that the new one is working so I swapped it with my old one. The new version is showing a lot less amplification than the old one. I am running a Piaware card with the informational graphs installed. When I swap in the newer LNA the noise level of the graph drops by about 10db without changing the gain of the dongle.

Are there differences between older and newer production runs of the RTL-SDR ADS-B LNA? What could account for these differences? Could my newer version be broken?

Well honestly the RTL-SDR unit is better than any of those. Way better filtering. And I’d rather figure out if the one I have is not working correctly so I can get it replaced.

But I appreciate the suggestion if all else fails.

Well a friend of mine did one handcraft with some chipset or what ever that works perfect.
