So my dongle died after 2y 7mo of continuous use. It's in my basement, so it's generally at a stable and lower temperature than the rest of the house. The fact that it died on the hottest day, and precisely at the peak of the heat of the day, lead me to believe it's not a coincidence. It was ~98 outside, and probably ~75 in the basement. That's high for New Hampshire in the United States.
I've ordered a replacement, but I'd like this one to last longer. Would it be better to run it without the aluminium case, or is that really required for heat dissipation?
