Has anyone investigated decoding the data transmitted from the Garmin Astro Dog Tracking Collars?
claims to use
VHF
radio Specifications - MURS (Multiuse Radio Service)
frequencys
151.82 MHz
151.88 MHz
151.94 MHz
154.57 MHz
154.60 MH
i would gather an SDR dongle should be able to (with the right decoding) produce a tracking map similar to adsb scope.....
if so what would be a good place to start!
Thanks In advance

Re: Garmin Astro Dog Tracking System
Just looked it up. It should be doable with rtl-sdr no? Its a GPS enabled tracking collar with a range of 9 miles.
Seems super cool.
Anyone?

Sounds interesting. See if you can look up any patent info on the device and that should discuss the protocol they use. From there you can figure out how to write a decoder. Or just try make a recording of the signal and manually analyse it in a program like Audacity, I don't think the protocol they use would be overly complicated.
