SDR for VLF/LF

Post by helios » Sat May 02, 2015 6:11 pm

Hi,

I'm looking for a cheap SDR for reception in the range of 3-300kHz.

I tried the direct sampling mod for RTL-SDR, but this stuff is just too small for my fingers.
Is there anything ready to use i could buy? Should be less than 100$.

Thanks

You can just use your PC sound card to receive those VLF freqs: e.g. http://www.rtl-sdr.com/receiving-vlf-pc ... nna-saqrx/

Yes, but it's limited to lower frequencies.
My notebook doesn't allow a sampling rate above 96kHz / 48kHz RF frequency.

You could try an upconverter for the RTL-SDR that works well at VLF: e.g http://www.rtl-sdr.com/comparing-ham-up ... converter/

Other than that there might be some conversion mods for radios like the SoftRock that let them work well at VLF.
