FFT Window Screen Graber

Post by EddieMac74 » Thu Feb 15, 2018 11:54 pm

Hello All,

During my programming of SDR# plugins, I find myself making a lot of screen shots with graphics programs, pasting, cutting and such

So...

I made a plugin to grab the screenshots for me and place them in a folder in the SDR# directory.

Here is the zip

I though this might be useful for guys who do screen shots of the FFT window for later signal identification and such.

The plugin is very easy to use. It is self explanatory it does shots of the entire app or just the FFT window.

Pretty sure I found all the bugs, however, as such if you find any let me know and I will fix them.

Here is a screen shot I just now did while typing this post...

Let me know below if you find the plugin useful.

Thanks again to all the great forum members and admins here.

EddieMac,

Many thanks indeed for your recent excellent plugins, very nice work.
If you're accepting requests or ideas, your screen cap above reminded me of a function that SDR# lacks and that I think would be useful to many who are interested in signal decoding etc.
If the IF and Audio Spectrum display (Zoom FFT plugin, seen above) had a way of measuring the Hz between changeable points on the graph it would be a very nice tool. It could be used to measure all sorts of signals, bandwidth, frequency shift etc.
Vasiily's Audio processer plugin (http://www.rtl-sdr.ru/) has a single moving red line on the 'Audio Spectrum' that displays the current frequency, very handy for measuring signals but if there was two that did the same thing plus the distance between them it would be a really, really handy tool. A freeze button on there would be an additional luxury.

Something like this :

Anyway, perhaps something you might consider. Thanks again for your work.

Terry

Hi BackHive,

Actually there is something in the works almost exactly as you described. I have a beta tester who asked me with the same idea, and yes it seems possible with the tests I tried last night.

It will be a while before I can release even a beta plugin.

I work full time and code after my wife and kids are in bed. I should be finished updates on my Tuning Knob plugin this week.

Its a tight schedule, but it should be about 2 weeks and I can have something ready for you to beta test.

Thanks a lot much appreciated.

Sounds great. I understand exactly what you mean regarding your coding time, been there - done that :). In any case, take your time and I look forward to beta testing it.

Thanks for developing the FFT Grabber plugin! I want to report a possible bug. On my laptop (Win 7 64) the first two buttons say Cature when I believe they probably should say Capture.

Hi, that's not a bug. Sorry, it's my poor spelling. I will release a fix DLL in a few hours. That's my epic fail for the month.

I really need BETA testers and spell checkers

Please take note: the plugin spelling error has been fixed.

The original download has been edited with the new plugin version.

Thanks.

:D How about the idea:
a) Make a Screenshot every X Min/ sec for a long therme scan image?
b) Switch the Freq and make an Screenshot like: Switch to 100mhz -> wait 1min (to run full waterfall) than switch to 102Mhz....

Hi,
just noticed your comment, yes, that would be technically doable, but practically there are easier ways to do it. I try to keep my plugins simple as possible, but perhaps I could create a plugin that allowed video of the waterfall / spectrum analyzer instead?
