Highest GHZ with a SDR

Post by otterslide » Tue Jan 01, 2019 8:50 pm

Just wondering what is the highest GHZ someone has achieved with a SDR?
I found the HackRF can do 6ghz which may be increased to 10 with a downconverter.
Is there is any to go above 10 and does anyone have practical experience doing this, or an article that may describe what is needed?

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
I'm not sure if I should be getting the HackRF or if there is anything with ever better range.
Thanks.

The USRP can also go up to 6 GHz. Also look at the LimeSDR companion downconverter https://www.crowdsupply.com/lime-micro/ ... -to-10-ghz.

Anything SDR can reach a frequency as high as you want, you just need an appropriate downconverter, and a good low noise amplifier to get the noise figure down.

But as you get higher, the required construction quality and precision increases a lot.
