Dancing radio-waves :)

I caught this short video which I thought was interesting.

Not the signal itself, but how it shows the atmospheric movements. A bit like when you watch the sun-light flicker in the water on the beach or a lake.

I don't know what the signal itself is, but I'm guessing a radar-beam or something like that.

Nice! You can also sometimes see the same thing happening with DVB-T signals on UHF.

This is not atmospheric movements. This is over-the-horizon radar.

They are used to detect nuclear missiles at long distance.

It changes, because direction and shape of radar beam is always changing over the time to scan the space at different directions.

You can find these radar signals at about 7-20 MHz range.
Most active Russian radars working at 10-15 MHz, but they periodically change frequency to keep the best wave propagation.

Sometimes you can also catch some moving spike, which moving from about 5 to about 20 MHz. This spike is OTH radar sweep, it is used to scan frequencies and find the best one for wave propagation through atmosphere.
