Anyone recoommend a decent antenna?

Post by Daniel1990 » Mon Sep 08, 2014 7:49 am

I recently bought a usb dvb-t stick from ebay that came with a crappy antenna i cannot pick up any TV channels at all can anyone recommend a decent antenna for this i have already ordered a mcx to pal adaptor from ebay to try this on my main aerial i'm not allowed anything outside so i would need an indoor antenna.

Btw could i still use the SDR function if i connected it to my main aerial on my roof?
I just want to know so when i get my adaptor i ordered i can test it before i buy an antenna.

Thanks

The antenna on your roof if probably a Yagi, which is directional and so will only receive signals in the direction it is pointed in. For a radio scanner like the RTL-SDR you probably want a wideband omnidirectional antenna. Look up discones or planar disk antennas.

RIGHT ON! Discones are perfect for the job!
