Active Loop Antenna

Post by P-40 Warhawk » Mon Jul 10, 2017 2:27 pm

I found a active loop antenna for receivers on ebay and the loop has a 950 ohm resister in the wire run that makes up the loop . I emailed the seller and asked what the 950 ohm resister was for , he didn't know , he was just selling them . Does anybody in this forum know why the 950 ohm is the loop ?????????
Here is a website with the antenna on it , but no reason why the resister is in the loop .

I believe that's a termination resistor. Basically in a small loop antenna it helps create a directional radiation pattern, so the antenna receives better from one side.

I don't know this antenna but it is not a magnetic loop antenna. The magnetic loop antenna has very low impedance, could be around 1 ohm, so it need a specific preamplifier with low input impedance.
