HF Loop antena with LNA

Post by Tony_m » Mon Jun 18, 2018 1:57 pm

Hi everybody! I'm quite new to SDR and especially radio-electronics related DIY. So I'm sorry for silly assumptions and questions.

Currently I'm thinking to build HF active loop antenna, since I'm living in urban environment and I don't have lot of space for longwire/dipole or similar antenna.

So... can I use HF LNA, like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-2000MHz-2Ghz ... SwRQla8VBT

with simple hula - loop antenna (one or few turns of wire in non conductive hula hoop)?

Almost identical amplifier was used in this shielded active loop antenna: https://pa0fri.home.xs4all.nl/Ant/Activ ... %20eng.htm

(Yeah, I know - some guys just make an antenna from coax cable with few centimeters gap in shield in top of the loop. But this guy (PA0FRI) clearly states, that this "symmetrical shielded loop antenna" should be made as he described, not from coax cables. But I want a bit simpler approach for my first DIY project - don't want to fiddle with copper tubes and couplers)
