Adjustable Matching Transformer Exist ??

Post by TomLine » Tue Aug 20, 2019 2:44 pm

Is there such a thing as a variable matching transformer. Just hook it up and adjust for best signal? Is an Antenna Tuner the same thing?

Yeah that's an antenna tuner.

But remember that by matching impedance you're only affecting SWR. Things like radiation patterns and antenna gain are also dependent on proper antenna sizing.

Yes impedance matching circuit/transformer exist.
The problem is you have to place such a device directly between the antenna and the transmission line e.g. coax cable to work. Then you have to tune it to the frequency you want to operate on, and again after you change the frequency.

This requires some means of remotely tuning the components uses in such a impedance matching circuit/transformer

antenna tuner also can be used as pre-selector tunable bandbass filter

It depends on the design of the matching network if it can be used as pre-selector tunable bandbass filter, e.g a Pi-design is a Low pass filter.
