Different signal levels in windows and linux

Post by jametller » Fri Nov 14, 2014 7:17 am

Hi, I have an RTL2832 dongle with R820T tuner. When I started using it on windows using SDR# I noticed that the configuration checkbox indicating tuner agc increases considerably the signal level when activated.

On linux, using, for instance, gqrx I have a signal level consistent with what I get in windows when the tuner agc is deactivated but, according to screen logs tuner gain is set to automatic.

Anybody has experienced / solved this point?

Thank you

Actually, No message indicating tunner gain is set to auto. I think I have a better idea of what is happening.

rtl_* tools use the libsdr together with the tunner functions to setup the gain mode.

In gqrx and gnuradio-companion I suppose that the tunner gain mode should be setup via the "Device String" but i do not know which is the prooper option to indicate it. Do you have any idea?

Thank you very much!
