i have installed the rtl-sdr drivers following this tutorial: ... l-sdr.html and was able to receive a radio station with

Code: Select all

rtl_fm -f 89.2e6 -M wbfm -s 200000 -r 48000 - | aplay -r 48k -f S16_LE
. both spektrum and RTL_SDR_Wide_Spectrum_Analyzer work correctly, but in gnu radio (with GRC) i can only see noise. what am i doing wrong?

Unless you really need GNU radio for development work or advanced functions, I suggest you use gqrx. Without following any of the instructions that come with your RTL-SDR, make sure you have the universe and multiverse repositories enabled and use Synaptic to install gqrx. It will download all the dependencies and present you with a ready to run only need to select the type of receiver you have from the drop down menu. The later versions even blacklist the stock DVB driver!

I use Xubuntu 16.04 and I've never had to do anything other than install gqrx from the Synaptic Package Manager.

There is also another possibility. Run Skywave Linux, which is loaded with ham radio communications related software and it runs fine from a usb drive or a live dvd.

Hello friend.

I see in your GNRC, it found the RafaelMicro RTL.

What is happening to me is my GNRC says: "FATAL: Not supported devices found to pick from". But, if I try to put your code in the terminal I can hear the radio as you can.

I think this is a problem with the installation of the drivers, but I don't know what to do.

The steps I follow with the installation (I have Ubuntu 16.04 LTS) were:

1. Install gnuradio.
2. Install Xenial Xerius specifications.
3. Install gr-osmosdr to enable the features of the chip.
4. Blacklist of the default driver provided by the kernel: sudo modprobe -r dvb_usb_rtl28xxu

Knowing you work on Ubuntu 16.04, can you help me with my problem?

I tried with this:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install git
sudo apt-get install cmake
sudo apt-get install build-essential
sudo apt-get install libusb-1.0-0-dev

git clone git://
cd rtl-sdr/
mkdir build
cd build
sudo make install
sudo ldconfig
sudo cp ../rtl-sdr.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/

Opening /etc/modprobe.d folder
Creating a new file 'blacklist-rtl.conf' and add this one line:
blacklist dvb_usb_rtl28xxu

rtl_test -t

I tried those commands but I do not know if I need to install something else because GNRC still says: "FATAL: No supported devices found to pick from"...
