I will start by saying I'm a newbie to RTL-SDR. I setup SDR#, DSD+, VS Cable, DSD , etc, and listening to most signals I would expect. For some strange reason I can't get any AM stations. I have a discone antenna 25 ft in the air in my attic with a high-end cable. . I connected my HP 8656A Signal generator set to 600Khz and setup a 400Hz AM modulation @ 59% duty cycle with an amplitude of 10% pp. I connected a Textronix 2465B 400Mhz scope to the RF out of the generator and confirmed the Freq is 600Khz 10pp, and I can see an AM signal being modulated on it, but I don't own a Spectrum Analyzer (well excluding the SDR). I setup a portable Sony radio and tuned to AM 600Khz and hear the tone being generated by the signal generator. I I connected the telescoping pestal antenna that came with RTL-SDR and positioned it right next to the radio and I cannot get any stations on my RTL-SDR. I tuned SDR# directly to 600Khz AM and tried everything including No squelch, enabling and disabling RTL AGC and Tuner AGC and both disabled and manually set Gain to max of 49.DB. I enabled SDR# IF spectrum and Audio Spectrum looking for any signs of a faint signal, but Nada.
Help please, I'm begining to think my device has issues in the AM band 535-1605 kHz
