Sharp has no devices

Post by dalpets » Wed Jan 06, 2016 1:14 pm

I am running Win 7 Pro.

Device manager contains the usb device RTL2832U, but it does not appear in the Sharp devices dropdown , which is grayed out. The dongle is attached to usb 3.

Have researched the problem, but without success. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You mean the Source drop down in SDR# is greyed out?

Could you show us a screenshot?

Okay SDR# isn't recognising your dongle.

Did you follow the quickstart guide? www.rtl-sdr.com/qsg

It's almost if you havn't installed the drivers yet or plugged the dongle in. If you have installed them then try reinstalling them, or using a different USB port.

Yes, I've followed the Quick Start guide and I saw the drivers loading after I installed the dongle.
If you look at the screen grabs in the attachments you will see that everything looks to be OK, but still the dongle is not recognized as a device in Sharp.
I am now working in Win10. Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be the problem.

Thanks again.

Looks like you have the wrong drivers installed. Those look like the DVB-T TV ones.

Did you use zadig to install the WinUSB drivers? Try using zadig to install them again.

Hi,

The SDR setup guide says to select "Bulk-In, Interface (Interface 0)" in options/all devices, but my Zadig doesn't have this dropdown option.
Is there a newer versions of Zadig or a version known to have the option? See attachments.

What specific drivers should I be seeing after setup?

Thanks again.

Please re-read step 9:

Select “Bulk-In, Interface (Interface 0)” from the drop down list. Ensure that WinUSB is selected in the box next to where it says Driver. (Note on some PCs you may see something like RTL2832UHIDIR or RTL2832U instead of the bulk in interface. This is also a valid selection). (Do not select “USB Receiver (Interface 0)” however).

So in your case you're seeing "RTL2832U" in the drop down list which you can install the WinUSB drivers to with Zadig.

Still doesn't work I'm afraid, having also tried both usb 2 & 3 ports.
Any further things to try?
