Two antenna inputs -- UV and HF on my SDR. What are they?

Post by steve102 » Thu Apr 21, 2016 1:01 am

I'm just starting with RTL-SDR and bought this device on eBay: http://www.radioddity.com/us/full-band- ... radio.html

I installed GQRZ on my Mac and can receive FM broadcast clearly with the antenna on the "UV" jack and poorly on the HF jack. The software only goes down to 24 MHz. How do I receive down to 100 kHz as the device is specified?

Thanks for any tips.

UV stands for UHF/VHF, HF stands for HF.

So UV is for 30 MHz+, and HF is for 30MHz and below.

The device you have uses the direct sampling mode to get HF frequencies. To use the HF mode set the receive mode to use the "Q-branch" in the settings of whatever program you are using.
