QRM / help me figure out this data format

Post by n6bsv » Tue Mar 18, 2014 10:50 pm

I'm an amateur radio operator in the US and have been sidelined by this data(?) transmission.

https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/sear ... 2033696658

It is continuous, non repeating, and evident from about 3MHz to 8 MHz - the same signal is totally is destroying any signal heard on 80, 75, 40 meter bands.

I've bought an SDR and am looking for hints as to figure out what format this could be, which may help pinpoint the culprit. I live in a fairly noisy area, with a power transformer, cable TV distribution mux(?), and even the utility household power meters report back on RF - all within 100 feet. The noise appeared a month or so ago, and I'm unaware of any equipment changes. The same radio in a different location (a marina) works perfectly and has no QRM issue.

Any clues?

Many thanks!
Brooks
