Current Issues and Changelog

Post by rtlsdrblog » Tue Mar 19, 2019 2:50 am

This post will be used to keep track of current issues and changes with the KerberosSDR and demo software.

From now on updates will be posted in a reply to this message.

Issues from V1.2 + Changelog

Issues: No known issues.

Changelog: Processing speed esp. on the Pi 3 has been improved in this version. Use decimation to get speed up with FIR filtering.

Issues from V1.1:

No known current issues.

Issues from V1.0:
Issue 1: Long term sample sync. On ARM SBCs sample sync appears to be sometimes lost randomly after several hours of run time. Tamas and myself are working on a fix for this.
Issue 2: Tinkerboard Image WiFi Hotspot not working. This appears to be an issue with TinkerOS config locking to the MAC address on the board we used to create the image. Thank you to scoutcamper for the fix. We will rectify this in the next image version.

To Fix:

Code: Select all

vi /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/Kerberos_Tinker
comment out lines 3 and 9(should be uuid and mac address)
Another solution by mdacosta

Right click the Connections Icon on the task bar, choose Edit Connection, Under Wi-Fi, I choose Kerberos_Tinker then Edit, under Device it showed 2 cards, I chose the second one (wlan0) then save and it works.

Issue 3: Compass display is not working. This will be fixed in the next release.

Server V1.3 Changes:

1) Changed the HTML file output to include PWR and CONFIDENCE data. High confidence is when the DoA peak is high SNR, and only has one peak.
2) You can now experiment with a squelch for the compass if you have an intermittent signal. Edit the _webDisplay/compass.js file, and experiment with the MIN_PWR constant.

App V1.3 Changes:

1) Uses PWR data to color log points like a heatmap.
2) Can choose to not plot low PWR or low CONFIDENCE data points.
3) Can adjust length of estimated bearing lines.
4) Option to stop logging when stationary added. Sometimes the GPS heading can spin around while stationary adding bad results to the log file.
5) Ability to delete bad points.

NOTE: Due to an issue with Google Play and uploading new versions, we've had to re-release the app. The new link is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... imebearing

GUIDE UPDATED

www.rtl-sdr.com/ksdr

We found a few errors in the guide, mostly around the Direction Finding and Circular Array calculations. By following the revised calculations for the circular array sizing you should be able to get more accurate results.
