Power connection question
Re: Power connection question
Good day all
After receiving my KerberosSDR about a month ago i only powered it up this morning.Using a Desktop variable psu set to 5v and 3 amps all went well.
I was busy setting up the phone and suddenly i lost coms with the Kerberos
I checked the psu and saw that it was in over current protect.
I did check between + and - and it is short circuit did removed c4 and c47 they seems to be fine.
If somebody can forward me the circuit diagram for the power circuit i can get my Kerberossdr running again

Re: Power connection question
U2 is this part https://lcsc.com/product-detail/DC-DC-C ... 82161.html
It's a voltage regulator. Not sure why it would have shorted out. Was the voltage definitely 5V? This part has a limit of 5.5V.

Re: Power connection question
Thank you for the reply
Now to get one in South Africa is going to be a big challenge
I see min order is 5 but post cost is going to be close to $50
Yes to power was 5.1v on the psu .
maybe just a bad one .

If you think it was through no fault of your own and it was bad hardware, contact us at [email protected] and [email protected], and we'll see what we can do.

Good day
Thank you
I was able to locate replacement part from RS-Components and it will be on my desk next week
AP3407AKTR-G1

Re: Power connection question
Sorry to resurrect an older thread.
Is it possible to supply power anywhere else than the micro-USB port on the v2? I am finding this connector to be finicky and trying to get my system setup for mobile use. Twice now discovered my issue was with the cable backing out. Short of hot-gluing it in place I would like to just give it supply elsewhere.
I am currently using a Pi Power Hat for the Pi4B4G so that I can avoid it's USB power port. I pulled power off the powerhat and supplied it to KSDR but, would like to do away with the micro-USB port.

Re: Power connection question
Concerning myself I decided to create a dedicated electrical supply entirely. 12V power supply (AC) and four USB-A outputs (5v / 2A per connector);
Which gives this:
One for my cell phone - One for the Raspberry Pi
One for Kerberos - One last "just in case".
In the event of a power failure, a 7.4V LiPo battery can take over automatically during the lapse of time to restart the car engine.
I hope this will be enough in terms of intensity.

Re: Power connection question
The header on the bottom has 5V/GND pins that match the Pi's headers. You could try to power it that way if you built a custom header board.KD7CAO wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 11:35 pmSorry to resurrect an older thread.
